Grow with our community

We started in a gravel lot outside of The Local, with just four people. Dan  Shannon, Gary McGillivray, Lucas Sauve, and John Fawcett in May of 2023.  When we started having more people, The Cole Street Brewery started unlocking the benches from the light post so we could move them under the canopy for a more comfortable arrangement. In August of 2023, we communicated with Calvary Presbyterian Church, and they let us use their basement for meetings, but it wasn't the same as it was before, and we lost most of our consistent players. In January 2024, we let the church know that we were not using their space anymore. Fast forward to June, Dan, Gary, and I (Lucas) were playing some chess at The Dusty Shelf, and we caught the attention of the owner. We got to talking, and he told us we could use his place for chess club meetups. At first, it started slow, with only 4-6 people, but then it started growing from 6 to 8 to 12 to 14 to 17 (an unfortunate number for chess LOL) to 20 to 22 to 24 and now to 26, and there is no sign of it slowing down.
